Who are we?
On the 1st of October 2010 two collections in Jena, the collection at the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology - Hans-Knöll-Institute Jena and the Fungal Reference Centre at the Institute of Microbiology of the School of Biology and Pharmacy of the University Jena, were fused into the largest collection of microorganisms and substances in Germany, the Jena Microbial Resource Collection (JMRC). The strain collection contains microorganisms as natural resources and substances for natural products for academic and commercial purposes.
The JMRC is part of the Institute of Microbiology at the University of Jena and the Hans Knöll Institut Jena and provides a unique collection of microorganisms and substances in Germany. Besides of a modern and effective conservations we are involved in up to date science work of topics within microbiology. Daily our collection is growing to build a big varity that are at interest for science and industry.

Please note that the staff members of the JMRC partly have their working places at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Neugasse 25 (red house, 07743 Jena) and partly at the Leibniz-HKI Jena, Beutenbergstr. 11a (07745 Jena).
